SPORTS BRIEFS: Markus signs to play football at Northwestern
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- Central Lyon/George-Little Rock's Jesse Markus has signed a letter of intent to play football for Northwestern College next year.
Markus played quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back for two year with the Lions. He was a first team all-district selection, rushing for 520 yards and four touchdowns while throwing for 389 yards and three TDs through the air. He also averaged 17 yards on the punt return with one touchdown and had 40 tackles on defense.
Ihnen signs with Northwestern to play basketball
LAKE PARK, Iowa -- Harris-Lake Park's Eli Ihnen has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Northwestern College next year.
Ihnen played guard for four seasons with the Wolves, averaging 23 points and six and a half rebounds a game. He earned his second straight second team all-state honors after this season. Ihnen was selected to the all-conference team all four years he played for the Wolves and ended his career at Harris-Lake Park as the all-time leading scorer with 1, 644 points.
Ihnen was an all-district selection three times and helped the Wolves to a 21-3 record this season before losing in the district finals.
