SLAYTON -- The Worthington 14-and under WAYBA baseball team won the championship of the Hadley Lions tournament in Slayton Saturday with a 12-6 victory over Marshall in the championship game.

Nine teams participated.

Easton Sauerbrei and Logan Huisman were credited with strong pitching performances for Worthington. Manuel Dominguez and Eli Gaul homered for Worthington team. Dominguez, Gaul, Sauerbrei and Shawn Hurley led the locals at the plate -- all collecting five hits for the tournament.

South Central Hawgs move to 3-0 with 19-0 shutout of Albert Lea

TRUMAN --The South Central Hawgs amateur football team improved to 3-0 Saturday with a 19-0 shutout of the Albert Lea Grizzlies.

Running back Trey Diggs scored the Hawgs' first touchdown on a 2-yard run. Jerry Heidelberg returned a punt 59 yards for another score. South Central also scored on a 14-yard pass from Jeff Siipple to Kevin Abell.

The Hawgs' next game is 7 p.m. Saturday against the Tri-State Buffalos in Hills.
