SPORTS BRIEFS: YMCA hosting Kid's Night Out, Youth Overnight

WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Area YMCA will be hosting a Kids Night Out on Friday for children from first through fourth grades and its annual Youth Overnight April 12 for children from third through fifth grades.

The Kids Night Out goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday night, while the Youth Overnight start at 8:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 a.m.

Both nights will consist of swimming, games, movies, snacks and a lot of fun.

During the overnight, boys and girls will have separate sleeping areas. Kids should bring sleeping bags, pillows, swimming suits and comfortable clothing for the event.

YMCA spring sports set to begin

WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Area YMCA will be offering three different spring sports this year, including youth soccer, Mini Kickers soccer and kindergarten track and field.

Youth soccer is open for boys and girls in kindergarten to fifth grade and will be played on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. Games will begin April 6 and go through April 23. This program is designed to help kids learn the basics of soccer and improve their skills.

Mini Kickers soccer is open to boys and girls ages 3 to 4. Games will be played from 10-10:45 a.m. on Saturday mornings at the Worthington YMCA. The program starts on April 6 and goes until May 4. Mini Kickers soccer helps kids begin to learn the basic rules of soccer as well as the fundamentals of the game.

Kindergarten track and field meets Friday afternoons from 4-4:45 p.m. at the YMCA. The program begins April 5 and goes through May 3. Track and field is designed as an introduction to track and field and provides kids with a basic understanding track and field.

YMCA starting spring coed-dodgeball league in April

WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Area YMCA is starting up a spring coed-dodgeball league starting April 4.

Teams will play in six regular season matches plus playoffs. Six players are needed to fill out a team. However, there must be two female players on the court for each team.
