RRC (1-7, 1-4) scored two touchdowns early in the last quarter and held a 20-7 lead with 9:21 to play.

But the Tigers (5-3, 4-1) countered by capping a drive with a touchdown pass and then blocked a Falcon punt and recovered at the RRC 45-yard line.

Aided by a 31-yard pass completion, Springfield moved inside the Falcon 10-yard line and later scored on a third-and-goal from three yards out.

Tiger quarterback Jordan Milbrath (8-for-23, 112 yards) scored the go-ahead TD on a keeper with 1:08 remaining.

The Falcons, who rushed for 129 yards and passed for 49 more, sustained a 12-play, 80-yard drive in the second quarter with Jake Fredrickson's keeper capping the march.

Matt Sticha, who had a pass interception, rushed 17 times for 67 yards, including fourth-quarter touchdown bursts of 17 and 10 yards.

Nathan Bierman, who recovered a fumble on the kickoff after Sticha's first score, finished the game with five pass receptions for 28 yards.

RRC played strong against the run all night, holding Springfield's option attack to a mere 62 yards rushing on 33 attempts.

"We did an outstanding job against the run," declared RRC head coach Brian Walker.

Zach Siemer had a team-high 10 tackles for the Falcons, who play top-seeded Wabasso Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Section 3A playoffs.

WABASSO -- Holden Salfer threw four touchdown passes, and Derek Riley scored a trio of TDs, as the Wabasso Rabbits rolled to a lopsided victory over Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin.

Wabasso (6-2, 5-0) built up a 43-0 halftime lead and the second half was played quickly with a running clock.

Trailing 15-0, the Wolverines had a spark midway through the second quarter when Jacob Freitag gained 23 yards on a fake punt, moving the ball to the Wabasso 30-yard line.

But the Rabbits -- the top-seeded team in Section 3A -- stopped the drive and held the Wolverines in check the rest of the game.

Steven Herrig, who led ML/B-O's defense with seven tackles, completed four passes, including a pair to Freitag, who rushed six times for 39 yards.

Dalton Wall had 24 yards on four carries for the Wolverines (0-8, 0-6) who are finished for the season.
