ST. PAUL – Another state title won't be in the cards for Jackson County Central. The Huskies suffered a hard-to-swallow blow in the Class A state semifinals today, 38-25, to No. 1 Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.

The greatest the Huskies can finish is third, and the loss ends a four-year run of state titles.

“We have a lot of respect for those guys and knew they would be really tough,” JCC coach Randy Baker said after the semifinals. “They have a lot of good kids, they wrestled hard and were aggressive. We've certainly had our shots up here. I'm happy to be wrestling for third right now.”

The teams traded wins in the first two bouts of the match, but JCC's Jordan Biehn got his team back on track, following a tough overtime loss at 120 pounds, with a win at 126. ACGC then won by pin anda technical fall in the next two matches and pulled out to a 23-6 lead.

Paden Moore, Luke Norland, Keegan Moore and Nate Horn were all winners for JCC down the stretch.

The Huskies, now 23-5, will wrestle unseeded Frazee (19-2) for third place at 5 p.m.

Third-seeded Chatfield (23-1) will wrestle Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in the Class A championship dual tonight at 7 p.m.
