Stingrays get 4 more regional times

WORTHINGTON -- The Mankato Marlins came to the Worthington YMCA to take on the Stingrays Saturday.

Two new Stingrays' swimmers qualified for regionals, as Meredith Moore qualified in the Girls 14 and Under 50-yard freestyle (30.43 seconds) and Hannah Rahn did the same in the Girls 10 and Under 50 breaststroke (46.89). Sarah Janssen added her third qualifying time for regionals in the Girls 18 and Under 200 free (2 minutes, 20.78 seconds) and Blaine Doeden added his second qualifying time in the 50 breaststroke (47.62).

Rahn added a first-place finish in the Girls 10 and Under 50 free (36.89), Janssen added wins in the Girls 18 and Under 50 free (28.74) and the Girls 18 and Under 100 butterfly (1:22.56), while Doeden added a victory in the Boys 10 and Under 50 butterfly (42.58).

Brittany Saulsgiver won the Girls 18 and Under 100 backstroke (1:24.55) and the Girls 18 and Under 100 free (1:12.49). Tim Skog took home championships in the Boys 18 and Under 100 backstroke (1:14.65) and the Boys 18 and Under 50 free (25.16).

Matt Sorensen and Sophie Wietzema each had a pair of first-place finishes, as Sorensen won the Boys 18 and Under 200 free (2:28. 97) and the Boys 18 and Under 100 free (1:00.70) and Wietzema won the Girls 8 and Under 25 free (18.65) and the Girls 8 and Under 50 free (46.31),

Oliver Wolyniec won a trio of championships, taking home the gold in the Boys 14 and Under 200 free (2:21.31), the Boys 14 and Under 50 free (26.38) and the Boys 18 and Under 200 breaststroke (2:53.34).

Dillon Pedersen won the Boys 18 and Under 100 breaststroke (1:23.22), while Cameron Jenson won the Boys 14 and Under 500 free (6:32.97) and the Boys 14 and Under 100 free (1:03.11). Nathan Johnson won the Boys 12 and Under 50 breaststroke (45.66) and Max Langerud won the Boys 12 and Under 50 backstroke (58.67).

Ben Doeden won the Boys 18 and Under 100 individual medley (1:20.38) and Bryan Doeden won the Boys 14 and Under 100 backstroke (1:27.10).

Tori Elsing won the Girls 18 and Under individual medley (1:27.01) and Anwar Farra won the Boys 10 and Under 100 free (1:25.87). Sammy Farra took home three victories, winning the Boys 8 and Under 25 free (22.56), the Boys 8 and Under 25 backstroke (28.83) and the Boys 8 and Under 50 free (53.48).

Kaitlyn Baustian won the Girls 12 and Under 50 butterfly (52.85) and Levi Blanchard won the Boys 14 and Under 100 breaststroke (1:32.12) to round out individual winners for the Stingrays.

In relay action, Max Langerud, Kyle Janssen, Nathan Johnson and Porter Elsing won the Boys 12 and Under 200 medley (2:54.36), while Kattiana Armstrong, Tori Elsing, Morgan Hockel and Moore teamed up to win the Girls 14 and Under 200 medley (2:32.88). Levi Blanchard, Cameron Jenson, Wolyniec and Bryan Doeden won the Boys 14 and Under 200 medley (2:17.20).

Rebecca Christensen, Saulsgiver, Emma Jirele and Tracy Prins won the Girls 18 and Under 200 medley (2:29.00) and Skog, Sorensen, Dillon Pedersen and Gordy Moore won the 200 medley (2:14.11). Porter Elsing, Langerud, Nathan Johnson and Kyle Janssen won the Boys 12 and Under 200 free (2:31.75) and Wolyniec Justin Paulzine, Bryan Doeden and Blanchard won the Boys 14 and Under 200 free (2:01.86).

Sarah Janssen, Prins, Christensen and Saulsgiver won the Girls 18 and Under 200 free (2:10.64) and Skog, Moore, Sorensen and Adrian Manzo won the Boys 18 and Under 200 free (2:05.48) to round out the relay winners for the Stingrays.

The Stingrays are back in action Dec. 29 at the Worthington YMCA.
