Stingrays qualify two more for regionals in final regular season meet
AUSTIN -- The Worthington YMCA Stingrays competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday.
The Stingrays' 50 swimmers competed against 42 swimmers from Austin.
Two swimmers added events for the upcoming Regional Meet. Hannah Rahn added two events to her field of competition, the 100 breaststroke and the 50 backstroke. Sophie Weitzema added the 25 backstroke to her event list.
Numerous swimmers also achieved first-place finishes.
Rebecca Christensen won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 29.74 seconds. Blaine Doeden won the 50 freestyle with a time of 35.84.
Bryan Doeden won the 100 back (1:28.66) and the 100 freestyle (1:09.79). Porter Elsing won the 50 freestyle with a time of 33.84 seconds.
Sammy Farra won the 50 freestyle in 46.56 seconds, while Daniella Flores won the 50 breaststroke with a time of 48.60 seconds.
Kyle Janssen won the 50 backstroke with a time of 46.08. Sister, Sarah, won all three of her events; the 200 freestyle (2:26.52), the 50 freestyle (29.27) and the 100 freestyle (1:06.49).
Cameron Jenson won both the 200 freestyle (2:22.84) and the 100 fly (1:17.41). Rachel Koller won the 100 freestyle (1:21.30) and the 100 breaststroke (1:38.84).
Max Langerud won the 100 IM with a time of 1:57.75. Meredith Moore won all three of her events; the 200 freestyle (2:40.15), the 50 freestyle (31.25) and the 100 backstroke (1:21.62).
Ashley Muller won the 100 fly in a time of 1:33.56. Tia Murray won the 25 breaststroke in 30.15 seconds.
Jacob Neuberger won the 50 backstroke in 49.90 seconds. Justin Paulzine won the 100 IM in 1:28.55.
Tracy Prins won the 200 backstroke in a time of 3:30.20. Rahn won the 50 back (42.89) and the 100 freestyle (1:21.62).
Arely Rodriguez won the 50 backstroke (44.75) and the 100 freestyle (1:27.72).
Matt Sorensen won all three of his events; the 50 freestyle (26.26), the 100 freestyle (1:00.33) and the 100 breaststroke (1:22.52). Wietzema won the 100 IM (1:56.23) and the 25 backstroke (20.99).
And Oliver Wolyniec won all three of his events; the 50 freestyle (26.93), the 200 breaststroke (2:47.63) and the 100 breaststroke (1:19.19).
Several Stingrays' relay and medley teams took home first place finishes as well.
The Boys 10 & Under 200 Medley of Neuberger, Anwar Farra, Blaine Doeden and Adam Koller finished with a time of 3:05.22. The Boys 12 & Under 200 Medley of Kyle Janssen, Nathan Johnson, Elsing and Langerud finished with a time of 2:54.78.
The Girls 14 & Under 200 Medley of Moore, Rachel Koller, Ashley Muller and Morgan Hockel finished in 2:34.84. The Boys 14 & Under 200 Medley of Bryan Doeden, Levi Blanchard, Paulzine and Cameron Jenson finished with a time of 2:31.75.
The Boys 18 & Under 200 Medley of Wolyniec, Matt Sorensen and Adrian Manzo finished with a time of 2:17.60. The Boys 12 & Under 200 Free Relay of Elsing, Johnson, Langerud and Kyle Janssen finished in 2:30.76.
The Girls 14 & Under 200 Free Relay of Morgan Hockel, Rachel Koller, Erin Benz and Moore finished in 2:19.06. The Boys 14 & Under 200 Free Relay of Blanchard, Bryan Doeden, Paulzine and Jenson finished in 2:07.18.
The Girls 18 & Under 200 Free Relay of Brittany Saulsgiver, Prins, Christensen and Sarah Janssen finished in 2:10.80. And the Boys 18 & Under 200 Free Relay of Wolyniec, Manzo and Sorensen finished in a time of 1:53.50.
The Stingrays have two weeks off before individual swimmers compete in the sectional meet in Albert Lea on Jan. 28.
