Sub-Section 3AA Golf: Megan Will leads Windom golfers

BUFFALO LAKE -- The Windom Eagles girls' golf team took first place at the Sub-Section 3AA Southeast Golf Tournament Thursday.

Windom shot a 360 as a team to place first, while the Jackson County Central Huskies finished with a team score of 366 to place second. Redwood Valley and BOLD tied for third with 386s followed by St. James which scored a 455.

The Eagles' Megan Will was the low medalist for the girls' with teammate Kelsey Hanefeld finishing second at the meet. Hanna Kloss and Marissa Cartwright tied for third on the team with matching 97s, while Maitland Vollan and Miki Bolin shot 101s.

Alison Benson shot an 89 to lead the Huskies, followed by Abby Brinkman (90), Emma Lilleberg (93) and Lexie Hoffman (94) rounding out the top four. Benson, Brinkman and Lilleberg all qualified for the section meet next week.

On the boys' side, Redwood Valley took first with a team score of 327, followed by the Eagles who shot a 344 as a team. JCC finished with a 349 for third place, while St. James took fourth with a 381.

The Cardinals' Adam Hengel was the low medalist on the boys' side with a 76. Windom's Dylan Pigman was runner-up with an 80, while Joe Brinkman of JCC was third with an 82.

Behind Pigman, Tanner Diemer shot an 86 for the Eagles, followed by 89s from Kyle Antes and Ryan Clark. Landon Johnson shot a 94 and Nathan Luitgens shot a 116 to round out Windom's golfers.

Second on the Huskies was Kyle Christopher (88) with Kyle Edlin (89) and Kyle Kapplinger (90) filling out the top four-scorers for JCC. Austin Olson shot a 92 and Jack Ringkob shot a 93 for the Huskies.

Pigman, Brinkman, Diemer, Christopher and Edlin all qualified for the section meet next week.

The Section 3AA Tournament will take place next Thursday at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Willmar.
