In other singles matches, Joey Vajgrt bested Carter Lindner 6-2, 6-0 at first singles, Dustin Deutsch beat Alex Hayenga 7-5, 6-4 at third singles and Andrew Jelkin topped Ben Doeden 6-3, 6-1 at fourth singles.
In first doubles, Luverne's Blake Ziegler and Scott Nelson topped Worthington's Dillon Pederson and Kody Honius 6-0, 6-0. WHS head coach Greg Antoine said the scores of some of the matches didn't indicate how close some of them were. He said Jonny Vajgrt and Johnson pushed each other to the limit at second singles. The Trojan doubles teams played good, aggressive tennis, he added.
