TROJAN GOLF: Lesnar, Mulder pace WHS golfers

WORTHINGTON -- Will Mulder shot a 37 and Kate Lesnar carded a 40 to earn medalist honors as the Worthington Trojans hosted Pipestone and Murray County Central in a golf outing Monday at Prairie View.

Mulder's round improved on his scores of 39 and 40 in his previous performances this spring.

"He's having a great start to his season," said WHS head coach Ron Wood.

Murray County Central won the boys meet with a 163. Worthington carded 171 and Pipestone Area 176. On the girls' side, Worthington had 180 and Murray County Central 230. Pipestone Area was incomplete.

The MCC boys were led by Ben Loosbrock and Adam Christensen, each who posted 40s. A.J. Bucher led the Pipestone Area boys with a 38.

Worthington's Seth Meier had a 43 while teammates Jacob Weg had 45, Tyler Van Hove 46, Zach Heidebrink 46 and Caleb Kill 47.

Complementing Lesnar for the Trojan girls were McKenzie Hurley with 44, Morgan Harberts 47, Kia Veen 49, Tyree Murray 51 and Genna Putnam 54.

The Worthington boys are 3-2 on the season, and 1-0 in the Southwest Conference. The WHS girls have a 4-0 record.

Worthington competes in a dual match today in Luverne.

Adrian sweeps golf triangular

ADRIAN -- The Adrian Dragon boys' and girls' golf teams both took first place in a home triangular against Fulda and Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

On the boys' side, Adrian finished with a total team score of 182, while Westbrook-Walnut Grove scored a 187 as a team. Fulda took third with a 225.

Fulda's Todd Peterson and Westbrook-Walnut Grove's Taylor Lindaman were the low medalists with both golfers scoring 40s on the day.

Justin Elias led the Dragons with a 41, while Ben Henning shot a 44. Collin Kemper picked up a 48, followed by Ryan Elias and Tommy McCarthy, who both shot 49s.

Dana Madson followed up Lindaman's 40 with a 41 for Westbrook-Walnut Grove at the meet. Walker Christians finished with a 50, while Trey Kockelman shot a 56.

Justin Dierks was the second lowest scorer for Fulda with a 51, while Aaron Hulstein shot a 66 on the day. Brandon Everett rounded out Fulda's top four with a 68.

In the girls' meet, Adrian finished with a 197 as a team, followed by Fulda's 201. Westbrook-Walnut Grove's score was incomplete.

Adrian's Katie Wieneke hit a 44 on the day for the lowest score on the girls' side, with Fulda's Madeline Westra claiming the second lowest score with a 45.

Sam Boyle shot a 51 for Adrian, while Jada Elias scored a 51. Marissa Veld and Alexia Kemper both finished with 52s.

The rest of Fulda's top four shooters included Brittany Leinen (47), Katie Reynolds (52) and Marissa Kunerth (57).

Westbrook-Walnut Grove's low score went to Avoree Bakken, who shot a 48 on the day. Paige Erickson shot a 51, while Kelsi Wahl finished with a 73.

Adrian travels to Red Rock Central today, Fulda and Westbrook-Walnut Grove are scheduled to take on Tracy-Milroy-Balaton today.

RRC sweeps Wabasso

Brandon Sohre carded a 43 to lead the Red Rock Central boys to a 206-249 triumph over Wabasso, and the RRC girls were also victorious, 225-231.

Darren Kronbach with a 49, and Maison Miller and Zach Kircher, each with 57s, rounded out the RRC boys scores.

Kyle Campbell led the Wabasso boys with 56. Brianna Jenniges had a 45 for the Wabasso girls.

Makayla Meier turned in a 51 for the RRC girls, followed by teammates Kate Hagen with 55, Maria Johnson 59 and Kylie Redenius 60.

JCC at Spirit Lake

Spirit Lake won its own boys triangular with 150 points. Storm Lake had a 160 and Jackson County Central a 169.

Joe Brinkman turned in a 40 for JCC. Teammates Jack Ringkob had 41, Zach Schwarting 43 and Kyle Kapplinger 45.

Corey Potter shot a medalist's round of 36 for Spirit Lake.
