WORTHINGTON -- After another exciting sports season, Worthington High School has released its winter sports award winners for the 2012-2013 seasons.

Rylan Scholtes anchored the Trojan boys' hockey team between the pipes and was named the most valuable player this season. The award for most improved player went to Andrew Johnson, while the offensive and defensive Player of the Year awards went to Levi Leach and Jacob Molden respectively.

For girls' hockey, Allison Kremer was named the most valuable player for the Trojans, while Betsy Thompson won the Hustle Award. Kirsten Aljets received the Trojan Spirit Award and Aleanna Heig took home the Rookie of the Year award.

Rachel Drietz received the most valuable player award for the Trojan dance team, while Val Cano was named the most improved player. Rookie of the Year for the dance team went to Jada Nelsen.

The Worthington girls' basketball team gave out right awards this season with most valuable player going to K.C. Riley. Most improved player as well as best free throw percentage went to Abbie Landgaard, while Ana Boever received three awards, including best 3-point percentage, most steals and most rebounds. Paige Gravenhof received the most assists award and Apiew Alwal took home best field goal percentage.

In boys' basketball, Morgan Traylor and Marcus Potter received two awards apiece, with most valuable player and most rebounds going to Traylor and best free throw percentage and most assists going to Potter. Jon Vorwald took home the most charges taken award.

Awards for the gymnastics team were published in the sports section at an earlier date.
