Twyla Goedtke, the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Beckman) Popken, was born on July 2, 1935 in Bloom Twp., Nobles Co., MN. She grew up on the farm and attended country school in Bloom Twp. She graduated from the Fulda High School in 1953. She worked at Credit Records for a short time following high school. Twyla was united in marriage to Raymond Goedtke on October 16, 1953 at Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN. After their marriage they lived on a farm southwest of Fulda. She worked with Ray on the farm and also worked as a home health aid in Nobles County and later for the disabled in Fulda. After their retirement from farming in 1995 they moved into Fulda. Twyla passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 78. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Fulda where she was an organist, belonged to Alter Guild and the ladies aid. She also delivered bulletins for shut in members and to the nursing home. Twyla volunteered her time and talents to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, where she accompanied various groups and soloists. For Twyla music was always her passion. In addition, sewing was also a favorite pastime.
Survivors include her husband, Ray of Fulda, MN, two children, Paula (Jim Payer) Hahn of Brandon, SD and Peter (Luci) Goedtke of Fulda, MN; 6 grandchildren, Richard Hahn, Scarlett Hahn, Colin Hahn, Christian Goedtke, Nathan Goedtke and Sierra Goedtke and sister, Wynn Sohler of Prior Lake, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ardella Johnson.
Funeral services will be at St. Pauls Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 30, 2013 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating. Interment will be at Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, MN.
