ELLSWORTH -- A vacant farmhouse and garage were destroyed by fire early Friday morning in Little Rock Township.

The Ellsworth Fire Department was paged to the scene at 32668 Edwards Ave., at 4:26 a.m. Friday. Fire Chief Kim Chapa said the fire was "fully involved" when they arrived.

"There was nobody around, so no injuries," Chapa said, adding that the site is owned by Merrill Peters.

Firefighters remained on the scene until about 6:30 a.m., and were joined by the Little Rock Fire Department. Chapa said the site was actually in Little Rock's fire service territory, which was why that department was called. The farm site is approximately seven miles east of Ellsworth.

Also responding to the scene was Nobles Cooperative Electric. Chapa said there was a downed power line leading to the house that was arcing and created a safety hazard for firefighters.

"They had to shut off the electricity to the house," Chapa said. "We pulled the main meter and the REA came out and disconnected (power)."

The cause of the fire is unknown.
