VFW BASEBALL: Worthington claims second in tourney
BRANDON, S.D. -- With a key victory on Sunday, the Worthington VFW baseball team advanced to the championship game of the Brandon Tournament.
However, facing a tough Sioux Falls West team, Worthington lost 7-5 to claim second.
SF East 4, Worthington 3
Tom Hayenga was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, but Sioux Falls East scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning for a one-run victory.
Blake Rogers was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Worthington.
Jon Reller suffered the loss. He allowed three earned runs while walking five and striking out four in 5 1-3 innings.
Nate Jensen recorded the final two outs in the game.

Post 3958 exacted a little revenge on Sunday, knocking off the top-seeded Sioux Falls East quad.
Lucas Henning was 3-for-4, including a double and a solo home run to lead Worthington. He also scored three times and drove in three runs.
Tom Hayenga was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Alex Hayenga was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Jon Reller also had two hits, scored a run and drove in two.
Tanner Rogers earned the victory in relief. He allowed no runs on one hit while walking one and striking out two in 3 2-3 innings.

In the championship game, Worthington jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but big second and fourth innings gave Sioux Falls West the game.
Tanner Rogers suffered the loss. He allowed three runs on two hits while walking three in two innings.
Deron Soderholm threw three innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out one. Jon Reller struck out one in one inning.
