Water main valves on the way

SLAYTON — Residents of Slayton are asked to boil water before using it from Tuesday through Aug. 11 due to low water pressure.

The city of Slayton will be performing work on Juniper Avenue, which includes installing multiple new water main valves. The installation of the valves will require a city-wide shutdown of the water system from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, due to the water pressure dropping to a point that harmful bacteria could enter the water system.

The result is a boil water order that will take effect each day when the water system is reactivated. Water should be boiled for one minute before used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes or food preparation.
