WHS BOYS' TENNIS: Trojans take down Fairmont 4-3
FAIRMONT -- Worthington's boys' tennis team defeated Fairmont 4-3 Monday. It was a match which had a little bit of everything.
"We got to see our team come back, tiebreakers, our team losing leads and just a lot of great tennis," WHS coach Mike Marquardt said. "We had ups and downs, but we finished some big points and that was the deciding factor."
Lance Homan won at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 for Worthington (3-0), while Matt Sorensen and Jonah Oberloh won at No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-4. Ben Doeden and Dillon Pedersen won a battle at No. 2 doubles 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 and Travis Vuong and A.J. Hayenga won at No. 3 doubles 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
In JV action, Kody Honius and Nick Newman won their doubles match 6-2, 6-1, while Isaac Houselog and Ben Christensen won 7-5, 6-1 and Jonah McDonald and Tim Skog won 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 in their doubles matches.
Worthington will travel to Luverne today to take on the undefeated Cardinals (6-0).
