Wilmont Cardinals to honor Wayne Klumper
WILMONT — The Wilmont Cardinals amateur baseball team will be wearing Wayne Klumper T-shirts during Game 1 of the Region 13C amateur baseball playoffs against the Worthington Cubs Wednesday as part of a fundraiser for the Klumper family.
“We felt this was something we could do, as Wayne has been a valuable asset to the Worthington Community for a long, long time,” Wilmont Cardinals player Justin Saufley said. “He has touched all of our lives in one way or another whether we know it or not.”
The Cardinals bought enough of the Klumper t-shirts from the YMCA to outfit the whole team and will wear the shirts in place of their jerseys for Game 1.
To help raise funds, the Cardinals will have a designated area where fans will be able to make donations to the fundraiser, if they wish, throughout the game.
“We feel this would be a great honor to him and Wilmont wanted to do it to show their support,” Saufley said.
