Wilmont to celebrate Oktoberfest Saturday
WILMONT — The city of Wilmont’s annual Oktoberfest celebration returns to town on Saturday, complete with a polka band, party band, games for the kids, a vendor fair, lots of food options and a beer wagon.
Events get under way at 2 p.m. with registration for the double elimination bean bag tournament on the east side of Wilmont’s Saloon No. 7. The tournament, for individuals ages 18 and older, begins at 2:30 p.m., and cash prizes will be awarded.
A vendor fair will be set up from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Wilmont Community Center. Vendors include Scentsy, Origami Owl, Lil’ Glitz Boutique, NMJ Photography & Design, Norwex, Wild Tree, Stacey’s Country Boutique, Sanford Clinic, Jewelry by Amanda, MaryKay, Pampered Chef, It Works, 31, Tastefully Simple and American Girl Doll Clothes.
Children are invited to the Kids’ Carnival from 2 to 5 p.m. on the open lot north of the Wilmont Veterans of Foreign Wars building. Attractions include cotton candy, face painting, bean bag toss, potato sack races, inflatables, duck pond, super soaker relays, pingpong pitch and football fling. Game tickets will be sold on-site. Kids can also roll giant dice for a chance to win in the grand prize drawing.
Meanwhile, the Larry Olsen Polka Band from Lake Benton will perform from 2 to 6 p.m. at the
Wilmont VFW, followed by Hicktown Mafia, a party band that plays a variety of music, entertaining the crowd from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Wilmont City Shop.
