Counties under the advisory include Pipestone, Murray, Cottonwood, Rock, Nobles and Jackson counties in Minnesota and Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson and O'Brien counties in Iowa.

Arctic high pressure will continue to sit over the region tonight, coupling with wind speeds of 10 to 20 miles per hour. This will result in wind chill values of 20 below to 35 degrees below zero through Wednesday morning.

Spotty blowing snow will also be likely tonight in open areas, so people should be cautious while traveling.

A wind chill advisory is issued when a strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is 20 degrees below zero or colder for a period of several hours. Those planning to venture outdoors should dress warmly, making sure that all exposed skin is covered.
