The Worthington Middle School will host its annual student showcase open house show from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at WMS.

The showcase will highlight the variety of opportunities available to WMS students in grades fifth through eighth throughout the school day.

The event will also be an opportunity for current fourth-grade students to see what life will be like at the middle school next year.

The evening will feature various hands-on activities for attendees to try.

The seventh-grade science department will offer insight into dissection projects students have conducted throughout the school year.

The Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class will allow attendees to bake up some delicacies.

And attendees will also have the opportunity to work with SMART boards, a technological aid that has transformed the classroom.

"We've fought to have them (SMART boards) for so long, and many people still don't know exactly what they do," said Tiffany Neugebauer, a fifth-grade teacher at WMS and member of the Building Leadership team at WMS.

While the open-house will highlight the works of middle school students, all community members are encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of daily occurrences taking place within the halls of WMS.

"This is a great opportunity for the community to see the good things the district is doing," Neugebauer said of the annual event. "Our students take pride in their work and they are excited to be able to share that with everyone."
