Worthington falls to Marshall in boys, girls hockey
WORTHINGTON —Marshall built for itself a 4-1 lead after the first period and defeated Worthington 8-1 in a boys varsity hockey game Tuesday night.
The Tigers drew first blood 24 seconds into the contest, as senior Alex Buysse took a feed from Sebastian Landry and Brent Haukom for the goal.
Trailing 2-0 1:55 into the first period, Worthington junior Nick Newman scored on an assist from junior Alex Kremer for the Trojans’ only goal of the game.
The Tigers scored three goals in the second period and another in the third to put the game away.
Buysse finished with a hat trick for Marshall. Tigers senior Alex Bell added two goals of his own.
The Trojans made four trips to the penalty box in the loss.
Worthington senior Alex Purdy faced 41 shots. The Trojans produced 12 on the night.
Worthington falls to 0-2 on the season. They will host St. Peter/LeSueur-Henderson at noon Saturday.

WORTHINGTON — Marshall used a skilled attack to move the puck around Worthington Tuesday night in girls hockey action.
The Trojans suffered a 13-0 loss on the road. Marshall led 9-0 after the first period. The deficit proved too insurmountable.
Marshall gleaned hat tricks on the night from junior forwards Teegan Wyffels and Miranda Fischer.
The Trojans were out shot 29-9 in the loss, dropping to 0-3 on the season. Marshall moved to 1-3-1.
