Worthington FC teams compete at state

WORTHINGTON —The Three Worthington FC soccer teams competed in two games this weekend at the Minnesota Soccer Association State Tournament in various locations.

The U12 team defeated Northfield Sunday in Lakeville to put themselves in a tie for first place with Chippewa Falls in the group standings. The U12s take on Chippewa Falls today and will earn the right to move on to the championship game on Wednesday with a win.

The U14s finished 1-0-1 in Shakopee on the weekend after tying Arsenal FC 3-3 on Saturday and then taking down Wayzata 4-1 Sunday. The only way for the U14s to advance to the next round would be on points, which would require help from Wayzata.

The U17s lost its first game of the weekend in Hugo to Arsenal FC 3-1 on Saturday, but defeated Westonka 4-2 on Sunday. In order to advance, the U17s would need Westonka to beat Arsenal FC and get some help in the tie-breakers.
