The Worthington Police Department responded to the crash at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday, which involved Wayne Klumper of Worthington and Kristen Bloemendaal of Edgerton.

According to a WPD accident report, Klumper and Bloemendaal were traveling southbound on North Crailsheim Drive when Bloemendaal began to slow and signaled to turn east onto Fox Farm Road. Klumper crashed into the rear of Bloemendaal's vehicle. Klumper was thrown approximately four feet south of his motorcycle.

A Caring Bridge site established for Klumper reports that he was rushed to the emergency room at Sanford Worthington Medical Center, then transferred to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. After a CT scan and examination, he was found to have a bruised lung, broken ribs, severely swollen eye, fractured facial bones, road rash burns, bleeding in his brain and possibly a broken pelvis. A CT scan done Wednesday morning found the bleeding and bruising in his brain had not spread since Tuesday.

Bloemendaal was not taken to the hospital. The WPD report did not state whether her passenger, Liana Sophia Bloemendaal, was injured.

Police found approximately 30 feet of skid marks and multiple areas of scratch marks on the road from the motorcycle. The vehicles were believed to be traveling 30 to 40 miles per hour, according to the WPD report.

Klumper is currently sedated and on strong pain medication, according to the Caring Bridge site. Doctors do not expect to wake Klumper for a week. His Caring Bridge site can be viewed at www.caringbridge.org/visit/wayneklumper.
