Yellow Medicine East squeaks past Worthington
GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East Sting defeated the Worthington Trojans 4-3 during a girls tennis match Monday.
Annie Lesnar picked up the Trojans only win in the singles matches, defeating YME’s Ann Clarke at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-3. The Stings’ Danielle Clarke beat out Emily Williamson at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3, while Britanna Radditz knocked off Laura Wetering at No. 3 singles. Rachel Drietz won her second set 7-5 against YME’s Jordan Glad to force a third set, but Glad ended up defeating Drietz 10-8.
Worthington got the better of YME in the doubles matches, getting wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Miranda LeBrun and Alicia Khatt defeated the Sting’s Mariah Norell and Stephanie Bartels, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles, while Erika Schutte and Paige Stewart beat Sidney Knapper and Sophie Timm at No. 3 doubles, 6-4, 6-4. The Trojans’ No. 1 doubles pair of Makensie Carstensen and Sarah Janssen went to a third set with the Sting’s Jordan Trotter and Sandy Bartels, but the YME pair took the set 10-4.
The Trojans (1-3) host Lac qui Parle Valley today at 4:30 p.m.
