NISO auditions are Sept. 7-8
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — Auditions for membership in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra will be on Sept. 7 (winds and percussion) and Sept. 8 (strings) in the Music Building on the campus of Dordt College.
Anyone wishing to play in the orchestra for the first time must audition, and all student members need to re-audition each year.
The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra is comprised of more than 80 members include adults of all ages as well as gifted students ranging in age from middle school through college. Each year several students who audition receive scholarships from the Friends of the Symphony for the purpose of continuing their private music instruction.
NISO presents three concerts per season in addition to the annual Concert for Children, which will be held on Nov. 13 for area fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students. This year’s concert series is titled Orchestral Celebration, with principal conductor Christopher Stanichar leading the orchestra.
