In the boys’ meet, SSC sophomore Brady Hall won a close competition for medalist honors, shooting a 42 and leading a balanced Quasar team victory.
The meet was held in overcast, 45 degree weather conditions.
Westendorf’s 49 just edged teammate Leigh Van Hove (50) and SSC’s Elizabeth Paul (50) for medalist honors.
Worthington won the team title with a low score of 204, followed by RRC (213) and SSC (261).
Megan Meier (51), Kendall Spartz (54), Jenn Scholtes (54) and Allison Jaycox (55) also shot very well for the Trojans.
“Our top six girls all shot between 49 and 55, which is very good balance,” beamed a well-pleased WHS head coach Ron Wood. “It was an extremely good performance for our first time out.”
Sarah DeCock (52), Alyse Quade (52), Caitlyn DeCock (53) and Alison Kitcher (56) paced the Falcons, while Nicole Mueller (56), Ally Lenz (70) and Aerial Nitch (85) completed SSC’s scoring.
Hall’s 42 was one better than RRC’s Blake Walker (43) and two better than teammate Jeremy Lubben’s 44 score.
Sparked by Hall, Lubben, Andrew Rossow (45) and Cory Pelzel (47), the Quasars won the meet by 16 strokes with a fine score of 178.
RRC was second with 194, while Worthington shot a 238 for third.
Matt Fox (47), Chris Miller (48) and Jordan Smith (56) completed the scoring for the Falcons.
Ryan Radloff paced the Trojans with a 46, while teammates Nathan Peterson (55), Joe Christensen (62) and Matt Wesselink (75) rounded out the top four.
The Trojans are scheduled to compete at Jackson Thursday.
W-WG 228, MCC 290
WESTBROOK — With four rounds in the 50s, the Westbrook-Walnut Grove girls’ golf team defeated Murray County Central 228-290 Tuesday.
Whitney Frank had a 56 to lead all scores for the Chargers, while Ellie Vondracek and Kylie Erickson each shot a 57. Alexis Quade had a 58 for W-WG.
For MCC, Tracey Chapman scored a 58, while Suzie Buesing had a 73. Michelle Carlson and Katie Beech had a 74 and 75, respectively.
The W-WG girls’ team will be at Fulda Thursday, with the Fulda boys traveling to Westbrook.
