WORTHINGTON — Marv Spomer will again host the third annual Classic Car Show and Shine, but it will be a little later this year to coincide with the Worthington Windsurfing Regatta.

“We’ve done this cruise every year on the lake has brought about a lot of comments from out-oftown people not knowing we had a lake here in Worthington,” said Spomer, who is the president of Spomer Classics Museum of Automobile Memorabilia. “And I was thinking if they don’t know we have a lake, they don’t know we have a Regatta.”

Spomer hopes participants in the car show will like what they see at the lake and take time to stop down at the Regatta after the car show concludes.

“This will complement the Regatta and what they are trying to do down there nicely,” Spomer said. “We take the lake for granted because we live here.”

The show takes place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 14 at Spomer’s museum on Oxford Street in Worthington. Area residents and visitors in town for the Regatta are invited to come see the cars on display. At 2:30 p.m., participants in the car show will drive their classic cars around Lake Okabena.

“We want people to bring their cars … this is not my car show,” said Spomer. “Anyone is welcome to participate.”

Last year, about 90 people from throughout the tri-state area brought cars to the Classic Car Show and Shine.

This year, for the first time, there is a bike rally taking place during Luverne’s Buffalo Days. On June 6, the annual car cruisein will take place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Main Street in Luverne. Then, on June 7, motorcycle enthusiasts will have a chance to show off their rides.

The Buffalo Days Bike Rally begins at 9 a.m. June 7 at Luverne Kawasaki. The motorcycles will ride through the 10 a.m. Buffalo Days parade.

“Then we will ride around Rock County,” said Rick Reed, owner of Luverne Kawasaki. “Then we will return to the park and people can come see the motorcycles.”

At 4 p.m., there will be a bike blessing at First Baptist Church, followed by a hog roast dinner and live entertainment.

“Any brand, any make of motorcycle is welcome,” said Reed. “Everyone is welcome to participate. It will be a fun day.”
