On behalf of the Lake Okabena Improvement Association, we would like to thank all the individuals that participated in the spring clean-up around the lake.
On behalf of the Lake Okabena Improvement Association, we would like to thank all the individuals that participated in the spring clean-up around the lake.
Due to the 80-plus concerned citizens who helped with the cleanup, we achieved great levels of success. The estimated garbage totals exceeded 1,000 pounds. In addition, another estimated 2,000 pounds of wood debris was collected. We also learned that members of Historic Worthington District collected more than 100 pounds of garbage on their cleanup that same day.
We extend our thanks to the area church youth groups who participated. Also, the city of Worthington, Hy-Vee, the Worthington Ministerial Association, the boy scouts and all LOIA members. Lastly, thanks to the community for the continued support. Our association is continuing to make strides with education and awareness of caring for our lake with the goal of preserving it for generations to come.
