It’s that time of year — high school graduation season — and we offer a pair of messages amidst the merriment.
First of all, we salute graduates for completing the milestone of earning a high school diploma. Each diploma represents the hard work of many — not just the individual recipients, but teachers, families and others who provided guidance and no doubt made some small sacrifices along the way. All are worthy of recognition and praise upon commencement — a word that, of course, recognizes the new beginning each graduate now faces in their life.
Secondly, we are mindful of the fact that events such as graduation bring celebrations that should be enjoyed with care. As people migrate from graduation party to graduation party, we hope they travel with the utmost in safety in mind — and that designated drivers always be in place. A weekend marking a collective achievement of our young people should by no means be marred by a recklessness that takes human life.
Congratulations to all graduates. May they enjoy success in whatever they do next.
