JACKSON — As a community service project, Federated Rural Electric employees are launching a drive for overseas troops. Members are asked to drop off items that could make life more like home for troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

To accomplish this task, Federated is partnering with Operation Minnesota Nice. Visit www.operationminnesotanice.com for a complete list of items to donate. Federated’s goal is to collect 5,000 items, representing one item for each Federated meter.

These items can be dropped off at Federated’s Jackson office, 77100 U.S. 71, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the Welcome State Bank, 111 Guide St. N., Welcome, during business hours.

Cash donations can be included with electric bill (customers can simply put an additional check in with their electric bill and make the check payable to Federated REA; list “troops” on the memo line or mail to Federated Rural Electric, ATTN: Troops, Box 69, Jackson, MN 56143).

Contact Federated at (507)847-3520 or 1-800-321-3520 or e-mail troops@federatedrea.coop for more information.
