WORTHINGTON — Worthington Regional Hospital is offering a Heartsaver CPR & AED class from 6 to 10 p.m. June 10.
The American Heart Association Heartsaver AED and CPR class teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat lifethreatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) in a rescue situation.
The intended audience includes lay rescuers who have a duty or need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, such as daycare employees, babysitters, firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards and others. Participants receive a course completion card valid for two years.
The Heartsaver First Aid & CPR/AED class for daycare providers will be offered from 6 to 10 p.m. June 11 and 12.
This course teaches rescuers the knowledge and skills daycare providers need to recognize emergencies and to provide first aid until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. Included in the basic curriculum are general first-aid principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.
The class also teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) in a rescue situation.
The intended audience includes lay rescuers who have a duty or need to respond to emergencies involving infant and child victims, such as teachers, daycare employees and babysitters. Participants receive a course completion card valid for two years.
Participants may register for all of the course or first aid alone. The cost and length of time of the course varies with the components desired.
