BECKER — Rainy conditions forced the Windom boys golf team to settle for second place Thursday in the Class A state golf meet.

Due to the bad weather, the tournament was shortened to an 18-hole event. Meadow Creek Christian, which carded a team score of 312 Wednesday, won the team championship, with the Eagles second at 326.

In Class A girls golf, 36-hole play was completed Thursday. Mounds Park Academy’s two-day total of 726 was good enough for the team title.

Individually, Vickie Lau of Tracy-Milroy Balaton finished 41st after carding a 102 on Thursday. She finished at 213 after a 111 Wednesday. Other area competitors were Adrian’s Brittany Loosbrock (110-112-103, tied for 43rd) and Red Rock Central’s Caitlyn DeCock (110-110-220, tied for 52nd).

On day one of the Class AA girls tourney, JCC’S Kaylee Benson shot a 91 and sits in a tie for 45th, while Huskie teammate Briel Hendrickson had a 96 and is tied for 58th.
