Rabbits defeat Dragons twice, advance to state

GRANITE FALLS — After defeating the Wabasso Rabbits once already this postseason, the Adrian Dragons were unable to have a repeat performance in a pair of losses Friday in the Section 3A baseball finals.

Adrian fell behind early in the first game. The Rabbits had a 3-0 lead after three innings, and increased the lead to 4-0 in the fifth.

However, the Dragons mounted a comeback and scored two runs in the fifth to cut the deficit.

After Wabasso added two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-2 lead, the Dragons scored three times in the bottom of the seventh, but fell short, 6-5.

In the second game, the Dragons scored two runs in the first three innings and had a 2-0 lead.

However, the Rabbis responded with a run in the third, one in the fourth and five in each the fifth and the sixth to win, 12-2 in six innings.
