Post 3958 sweeps twinbill

The Worthington V.F.W. baseball team’s offense fired on all cylinders Tuesday night, as Post 3958 swept a doubleheader from Sioux Falls West by scores of 15-9 and 11-5.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Worthington V.F.W. baseball team’s offense fired on all cylinders Tuesday night, as Post 3958 swept a doubleheader from Sioux Falls West by scores of 15-9 and 11-5.

In the opener, Stuart Rogers went 4-for-5 with a double, three singles, three RBIs and three runs scored for Worthington. Justin Larson was 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored, while Adam Munkel, Mitchell Jensen, Kirk McBreem and Steven Kremer all contributed two hits apiece.

Ethan Duffy picked up the pitching win for Post 3958, allowing four earned runs on seven hits over the first four innings.

In the nightcap. Rogers once again swung a hot bat, stroking a single, double and triple while scoring twice and driving in a run. Tyler Stugelmeyer was 2-for-3 and scored twice, and Larson, Kyle Fritz, Kremer and McBreen each connected for RBI singles.

McBreen went the distance on the mound for Worthington, scattering five hits. Sioux Falls West batters didn’t strike out over both games of the twinbill.

Post 3958 will play a doubleheader tonight at Pipestone as it tunes up for the Wooden Bat Tournament this weekend in Sioux Falls.
