Brian Davis has lately taken to criticizing Rep. Tim Walz’s affirmative vote on the Employee Free Choice Act, saying it was “simply un-American, taking away the right to secret ballot.” Perhaps Brian Davis should update his education of the First Amendment, which gives us as Americans the right to organize.
Workers are seeing wages decrease and health-care premiums that are ever-rising, yet corporations are making record profits. It is very important that everyday Americans have the ability to organize together to protect their quality of life. The Employee Free Choice Act ultimately makes it easier and less intimidating for citizens to do that by taking away the balloting and making organization automatic once a majority of workers sign a card. There is nothing more American than protecting our First Amendment rights, working to make our country better.
As a 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard, Tim Walz knows the importance of protecting our rights and has sacrificed much on behalf of his country. Brian Davis should be ashamed of himself. His use of negative, divisive and personal attacks should remind everyday voters like me whey we elected Tim Walz; he’s an ordinary, middle-class Minnesotan who runs a positive campaign and works hard on issues that matter to us.
