PIPESTONE — The Friends of the Casey Jones Trail Association and the Pipestone Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting and dedication of a newly paved, five-mile stretch of the Casey Jones Trail at 4 p.m. today.
The ceremony will take place at the intersection of Minnesota 23 and U.S. 75, with parking available at the Farmer’s Elevator Co.
This five-mile segment, directly east of Pipestone, is along abandoned railroad right-of-way. The project included one bridge replacement, re-setting of two large culverts and rehabilitating a township bridge. The trail will eventually be 100 miles long and connect various points of interest in southwest Minnesota.
