Beginning at 8 p.m. Aug. 15, families can participate in a History Hike through the Sioux Quarries to learn all about this mysterious native rock. Visitors can also learn the history of the stars and constellations during the “Wish Upon A Star” program beginning at 10:30 p.m.

Later that day, a Habitat-In-A-Box activity will take place at 3 p.m. Kids and family members will learn about animal habitats and take home a personalized habitat-in-a-box.

Aug. 17 brings a day of outdoor adventures as a “Mammals of Minnesota” program begins at 10 a.m. in which participants will get the opportunity to learn about some of Minnesota’s mammals by taking a closer look at their bone structures, as well as skulls, furs and tracks.

Finally, at 11 a.m., a “Camouflage Hike” will take off through the prairie where participants will learn the advantages camouflage brings to an animal’s lifestyle.

All events will meet in the Interpretive Center, and parking permits are required to enter the state park.
