The Generals suffered their third loss of the season to Sheldon in the championship game and settled for second place.
S-O defeated Remsen St. Mary’s (21-8, 21-9) and Harris-Lake Park (17-21, 21-14, 15-10) before falling to the Orabs (25-21, 25-16).
The Generals have not won a game against Sheldon this season.
“The girls played really well, and they communicated really well,” S-O coach Lisa Feldkamp said. “It was the mental part. For us, it’s not really the physical part of it; we just need to, when we see (Sheldon), be tough enough to say that we can beat them.”
Kally Iedema led S-O with 27 kills and 20 digs.
Jessica Ackerman had 16 kills and 13 digs, and Hattie Hartzell had 24 set assists and 19 digs.
Danelle Miedema added 19 digs.
Since beginning the season 1-4, the Generals (10-5) have won nine of their past 10.
“We’re where we want to be, but we’re not done,” Feldkamp said. “Even with a loss, you can discover weak areas, and they won’t be like that for long.”
