Additional century farms recognized in area

WORTHINGTON — While it would have been nice to be able to include all of the area’s century farms in this special publication, it just wasn’t possible.

WORTHINGTON — While it would have been nice to be able to include all of the area’s century farms in this special publication, it just wasn’t possible.

Therefore, following is a listing of each of those farms we weren’t able to write feature stories about. Congratulations to all Century Farm recipients.

  • The Schiefelbein Family (Jon and Bruce and Jane Ramiller) of Jasper in rural Rock County. The farm was settled in 1899.

  • The Frances and Reuben Batalden family of Lamberton in rural Cottonwood County. The farm was settled in 1899.

  • The Maurice Mitchell family of Westbrook in rural Cottonwood County. The farm was settled in 1907.

  • The Johnson family (Rodney and Kelly) of Balaton in rural Murray County. The farm was settled in 1887.

  • The Marion Miller Tate farm of Balaton in rural Murray County. The farm was settled in 1901.

  • The Peterson family (Winston and Elle) of Garvin in rural Murray County. The farm was settled in 1908.

  • The Lloyd and Audrey Spielman family of Westbrook in rural Murray County. The farm was settled in 1907.

  • The Jim and Peg Fliss farm of Spirit Lake, Iowa, in rural Dickinson County.

  • The Moore farm (Leslie Moore, Eleanore Moore, Jeff Moore, Eric Moore, Bill Moore and Jana Harris) of rural Dickinson County.

  • The VerDon Schmidt family farm of Everly in rural Dickinson County. The farm was settled in 1907.

  • The Tritle family (Greg and Kent) of rural Spirit Lake. The farm was settled in 1906.

  • The Gordon and Dianne Eiesland farm of Inwood, Iowa, in rural Lyon County. The farm was settled in 1875.

  • The Shane and Jennifer Pomerenke farm of rural Ashton, Iowa, in Lyon County. The farm was settled in 1895.

  • The Smith farm (Robert Smith, James Smith, Mary Smith and Margaret Benzkofer) of rural Lyon County. The farm was settled on Jan. 20, 1908.
