WESBTROOK — Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s volleyball team was playing too tentative Tuesday night.
Then the Chargers started attacking.
After blowing a large lead in the first game and losing Game 2, W-WG coach Natalie Ross told her players to be more aggressive at the net.
The Chargers responded with a dominating 19-point victory in the third game and cruised to a 3-1 (28-26, 20-25, 25-6, 25-20) win over visiting Edgerton.
“We just were playing too tentative and not as strong,” Ross said. “We just weren’t hitting very hard; we were doing more tipping and off-speed stuff, which has its place, but not this time. We went out and attacked the ball and attacked with force.”
Audra Schmidt had a match-high 15 kills, and Taylor Elzenga added eight for W-WG (9-9-2, 3-2), which nearly let an 18-11 lead in Game 1 slip away.
