WEST FARGO – An 11-year-old girl awoke to find a home intruder this morning, but a K-9 unit was unable to track down the suspect, Assistant Police Chief Mike Reitan said.

Police were called at 3:48 a.m. to the 1400 block of Seventh Street West.

The suspect fled after the girl woke up, and a patio door was found to be unlocked, Reitan said.

“The individual appeared to be looking for property in the house,” he said.

It didn’t appear anything was taken, and police did not get a description of the intruder, Reitan said. The K-9 unit didn’t follow any particular trail, he said.

The incident remains under investigation.

Reitan said it’s a reminder for residents to lock their doors.
