Granstra scored 16 points, had 15 rebounds, 10 assists and five blocks as Southwest Star Concept defeated Westbrook-Walnut Grove 46-39 Friday night in a girls’ Red Rock Conference basketball game.

The win, which was No. 499 for Knutson, did not come easily.

Leading 19-17 at halftime, SSC shot a mere 15-for-36 from the free-throw line, but made the shots down the stretch to seal the seven-point victory.

Erika Post added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Quasars (1-0, 1-1), while Luanna Henkels had 10 points and four assists.

For W-WG (0-1, 0-2), Audra Schmidt nearly matched Granstra.

Schmidt scored 17 points, had 11 rebounds and had four blocks for the Chargers.

Kylie Erickson had 13 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Alexis Quade added seven rebounds and three steals.

W-WG will travel to Edgerton Thursday, while SSC will host Ellsworth the same evening.

BUTTERFIELD — Krystle Sell scored 16 points and Thea Engen added 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Red Rock Central to victory.

Steph Maras added six rebounds for the Falcons (1-0, 2-0), who had a 29-15 lead at halftime.

For Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin, Jennie Romsdahl scored nine points, while Brittany Wenner had six points and 16 rebounds. Karen Herrig added 10 rebounds for the Wolverines, who will host St. James Tuesday.

Ellsworth 52, RL-B 47

ELLSWORTH — Brooke Kix scored 12 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out four assists to lead Ellsworth to a Red Rock Conference victory.

Andrea DeBoer had a team-high 15 points for the Panthers (1-1), while Leah Timmer and Darian Herman each had eight rebounds. Rayna Sandoval scored eight points and had three steals.

April Wallace scored a game-high 25 points for RL-B (0-1), while Karen Schmitz added 11 points for the Raiders.

Ellsworth will travel to ECHO Charter Tuesday, while RL-B hosts Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Thursday.

Adrian 76, H-BC 45

HILLS — Erica Thier led a trio of Dragons in double figures as Adrian defeated Hills-Beaver Creek in a Red Rock Conference girls’ basketball game Friday night.

Karli Meyer scored 15 points and Sam Lynn added 12 to lead Adrian (2-0) to victory.

Heather Kerner scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Patriots (0-3), while Jayme Plimpton scored nine points for H-BC, which will travel to Southwest Christian Thursday.

Adrian will travel to Fulda the same evening in a key conference game.

Iowa CL 38, RV 24

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — Despite struggling offensively, the Central Lyon girls’ basketball team used a tough defensive effort to remain unbeaten this season (3-0, 4-0).

Kayla Cupers scored nine points to lead the Lions, while Josie Menning scored eight.

Mary Schleusner had five assists for a CL team which defensively had 12 team steals.

The Lions will travel to MOC-Floyd Valley Tuesday.
