Authorities found a 2-year-old wearing only a shirt, shorts and boots standing outside a Grand Forks mobile home this morning when the temperature was minus 15 with a wind chill of minus 38.
The toddler was brought into a squad car to warm up, and an ambulance later transported the child to Altru Hospital, according to a release from police.
A 35-year-old woman was arrested for felony reckless endangerment and child abuse and neglect in connection with the incident. She is in custody at the Grand Forks County jail.
Police got call at around 8:30 a.m. to the 4800 block of Silvergate Drive in the Gateway Terrace Mobile Home Park in reference to a young child standing outside in the cold.
The child’s condition was not immediately known, nor was the woman’s relation to the child.
