Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Haberman, age 87 of Windom, will
be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday,December 23, 2008 at St.Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom with Father Andrew Olsem officiating. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Windom.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 22, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with parish prayers at 7:00 PM.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the church in Windom.
Margaret Louise (Haworth) Haberman was born on January 17, 1921 on a farm near Menomonie, Wiscosin in Dunn County to the late Elmer E. and Matilda
(Roeske) Haworth. She graduated from Menomonie High School in 1938 and then attended Eau Claire Business College. At the age of 18, Margaret moved to Windom where her aunt and uncle lived. She worked as a bookkeeper for Worthmore Creamery before marriage.
On October 30, 1943, Margaret was united in marriage to Luverne A. Haberman at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Windom. This marriage was blessed with four children; Joan, Jean, Jerry, and Jackie. They continued living on the home place until 1980 when Luverne and Margaret moved to a new home across the road from the farm place. In August of 1994 they moved into Windom. She was able to stay in her own home until Thanksgiving Day 2008, when it became necessary for her to reside at the Sogge Good Samaritan Home in Windom. Margaret passed away early in the morning on December 19, 2008.
Margaret's interests included her family and grandchildren, church guild, was an excellent seamstress and sewed quilts for church, was a member of the Great Bend Ladies Aid, Birthday Club, and a 4-H club leader for many years.
She enjoyed music, dancing, sports, cards, and games as a participant and observer. She assisted with the farmwork and was proud of her yard.
Margaret is survived by her children: Joan (Jerry) Schafer of Worthington,
Jean (Don) Hoppe of Windom, Jerry (Jean) Haberman of Mt. Lake and Jackie (Terry) Jurgens of Windom and 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luverne, October 4, 2003, her parents, three brothers Leslie, Mervin and Clifford (Tip) Haworth and one sister Rachael Schultz.
Her children will remember her for the wiadom and guidance she shared with them.
