GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Trojans claim Albert Lea championship with 63-35 win
ALBERT LEA — Holli Aggen and Martha Alwal both posted double-doubles in scoring and rebounding, and the Worthington Trojans remained unbeaten with a 63-35 victory over Cannon Falls in the Albert Lea Holiday Tournament.

Aggen scored a team-high 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Alwal contributed 14 points and 11 boards. Gabby Boever chipped in with 16 points for the Trojans (7-0), who will next host Montevideo Saturday.

ML/B-O Holiday Tournament Championship game W-WG 65, RL-B 51
BUTTERFIELD — Audra Schmidt and Kylie Erickson combined to score 38 points Tuesday night to lead Westbrook-Walnut Grove to a victory against Round Lake-Brewster in the championship game of the Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Holiday Classic.
Schmidt scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds, while Erickson had 18 points, six assists and three steals. Each were named to the all-tournament team.
Chanel Madson scored 13 points, while Kassandra Jarmer had six points and 11 rebounds for W-WG (4-4), which shot 10 of 12 from the free-throw line.
RL-B was led by all-tournament team member Karen Schmitz. The junior center scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Raiders, while Katy Johnson had nine points and seven rebounds. Chelsea Meyer scored seven points for RL-B, which hosts Granada-Huntley-East Chain Monday night.
W-WG will travel to Murray County Central Jan. 8.

BUTTERFIELD — Taking 32 more shots than its opponent, Truman defeated host Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin to capture third place in the ML/B-O Holiday Tournament.
Shelby Wiederhoeft led Truman with 16 points, while Jordan Feis scored 11 for the Jayhawks, who shot 20 for 76 from the floor.
ML/B-O was led by Brittany Wenner with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Megan Svalland scored eight points and had 10 rebounds, while Karen Herrig, who was named to the all-tournament team, had seven points and grabbed five rebounds.
Michelle Dirks had a team-high 11 rebounds for the Wolverines, who will resume their regular-season play Tuesday at Truman.

WINDOM — Leading by a mere nine points at halftime, the Fairmont Cardinals outscored the Fulda Raiders 40-11 in the final half to claim a victory in the championship game of the Windom Chamber of Commerce Holiday Classic.
Sam Waletich scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Cardinals, while Ashley Alleven added 16 points. Alyssa Niss scored 11 points for Fairmont.
Amy Paulzine scored 11 points to lead Fulda, while Brittany Hulstein and Mari Holinka added nine and eight points, respectively.

WINDOM — With a balanced scoring attack, the Windom Eagles held on to a narrow victory to claim third place in its own tournament.
Lindsay Elston and Alii Holt (seven rebounds) each scored 13 points to lead Windom (2-6), while Makenzie Lovell added 11 points and six rebounds. Aimee Johnson scored eight points and had a team-high nine rebounds.
For Alden-Conger, Katie Hallman scored a game-high 17 points, while Megan Miller scored 12.
Windom will travel to Redwood Valley Saturday.

PARKSTON, S.D. — Rachel Tinklenberg and Brooke Woelber each scored 14 points to lead Pipestone Area to a 27-point victory against Mt. Vernon/Stickney Tuesday afternoon.
Bailey Bouman added 12 points, while Megan VanderPoel had 10 rebounds for the Arrows (8-0).
Taylor Swenson and Bree Woelber each dished out six assists for PA, which will travel to Worthington in a key Southwest Conference game Tuesday.

MANKATO — With a pair of double-doubles Tuesday, the Jackson County Central Huskies won the Mankato Loyola Holiday Tournament with a victory against Maple River.
Brooke Burmeister had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Huskies (7-3), while Ashley Kruse had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Leslie Handzus had 12 points and seven assists, while Whitney Burmeister had 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
JCC will travel to Marshall Friday.
