Brief: Men sentenced for meth distribution

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Four men who conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine have been sentenced in federal court.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Four men who conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine have been sentenced in federal court.

Michael Roth, 40, of Spencer, Iowa, Douglas Johnson, 44, of Primghar, Iowa, Phillip Schurke, 40, of Hull, Iowa, and Gary Wilson Jr., 29, of Hartley, Iowa, pled guilty in September to one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and one count of traveling in interstate commerce to purchase pseudoephedrine in furtherance of the drug conspiracy.

Roth was sentenced to 248 months’ imprisonment and 10 years of supervised release, Johnson was sentenced to 240 months’ imprisonment and 10 years of supervised release, Schurke was sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release, and Wilson was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment and five years of supervised release. All four men received $200 special assessments.

Between March 2002 and August 31, 2007, Roth, Johnson, Schurke and Wilson conspired to manufacture and distribute meth and distribute and possess pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture meth in O’Brien and Clay counties. They traveled Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota to obtain pseudoephedrine to use in making meth. Roth also possessed firearms as a felon and unlawful user of controlled substances.
