GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Arrows pierce Eagles, 58-35; Luverne defeats Edgerton
PIPESTONE — In a game that was much closer than the final score indicates, the improving Windom High School girls’ basketball team gave the powerful Pipestone Area Arrows a strong battle Thursday night. But late runs in each half helped the Arrows (13-2, 7-2) claim a 58-35 Southwest Conference victory.

But late runs in each half helped the Arrows (13-2, 7-2) claim a 58-35 Southwest Conference victory.
Leading PA were Brooke Woelber (18 points, seven rebounds), Bailey Bouman (14 points), Megan Vanderpoel (nine points, nine rebounds) and Bree Woelber (seven points, 10 steals).
Lindsay Elston and Makenzie Lovell (seven rebounds) each scored nine points for the well-balanced Eagles (7-12, 3-5), while Alii Holt contributed eight points and six rebounds.
Windom trailed by just 12 points (45-33) with under six minutes to play. But the Arrows finished the game on a 13-2 run.
PA hosts the top-ranked Class A team in South Dakota Saturday night, when the undefeated Dell Rapids Quarriers travel across the border.
Windom’s next game is not until Feb. 6, when the Eagles host Redwood Valley.

Luverne 53, Edgerton 39
LUVERNE — Callie Sawtelle charted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double to help the Luverne Cardinals earn a non-conference victory over the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen.
Katlyn Sawtelle added 11 points for Luverne, which jumped out to a 14-4 advantage, led 29-15 at halftime and was later up by 25 points midway through the second half.
Luverne (5-10), which came up with 15 steals as a team, will visit Round Lake-Brewster Monday.
Hailey Van Kley led Edgerton with eight points, while Alyson Drooger (six points) and Katie Hadler (four points) each grabbed 10 rebounds.
Edgerton (7-6) hosts Southwest Star Concept tonight.

Martin Luther 60, ML/B-O 36
BUTTERFIELD — Haley Geisfeld scored a game-high 25 points to lead Martin Luther to a non-conference victory against the host Wolverines.
Judi Grosland added 10 points for the Knights.
For Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin, Jennie Romsdahl scored seven points and had six rebounds.
Brittany Wenner scored a team-high eight points, while Megan Svalland had a team-best eight rebounds.
Karen Herrig pulled down seven rebounds, while Macy Svalland had three assists.
ML/B-O will host Southwest Christian tonight in a Red Rock Conference game.
