Letter: Do all possible to encourage recycling

Now politicians in Minnesota are talking about the “great burn barrel crisis.”

Now politicians in Minnesota are talking about the “great burn barrel crisis.” To me, this is the equivalent of killing a flea with a sledgehammer, and the best action is no action at all.

If we want cleaner air, more effort should be put into recycling. I’ve heard horror stories of recyclables, already turned in, being trucked to landfills because it was cheaper to do this than truck it to the recycling plant. If any effort should be supported and subsidized, it should be recycling. Then, the “great burn barrel crisis” will take care of itself.
