Lakefield woman dies in house fire

LAKEFIELD — Florence Oeltjenbruns, 78, of Lakefield, was found dead in her home Friday following a house fire.

According to a press release from the Jackson County Sherriff’s Office, a 911 call at 3:30 p.m. Friday reported a house fire at 79732 460th Ave., Lakefield, a home owned by Melvin and Florence Oeltjenbruns.

Upon arrival, the Lakefield Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies found the home to be totally engulfed. The fire department remained on the scene for seven hours. Florence was found dead inside the home.

The fire remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall Office.
