Letter: County should find way to fill summer 4-H void

I would like to comment on two articles that appeared this past week in the Daily Globe.

Article one stated that the Worthington City Council was pushing ahead with the elaborate plans for the Senior Citizens Center. They will have a nice place to play cards, shoot pool and other amenities. A place to be entertained. Sounds great!

Article two related that the County Commissioners can’t find $3,600 for a 4-H summer assistant. 4-H is a great organization that works with training and educating our young people in the county, besides providing them fun times. Too bad! We should be supporting the young people in Nobles County.

May I suggest the commissioners forego their senior citizen places and volunteer some adult leadership for 4-H to help out? There is one commissioner who always shows up to help in the hog ring at the County Fair — others could do something, too, if there is no 4-H summer assistant.

If they made a few changes in their remodeling plans, could they find the money?
